Hoop Art!
I have a workshop in a couple of weeks time making appliqued pictures in a hoop and decided I ought to get a couple of examples ready to photograph for my presentation. Oh my! I think I have found a new addiction! I really loved making these, the possibilities are endless and such a nice size to work on. I always enjoy creating collage style fabric pictures, but I also enjoy adding little embellishments, sorting through my stash to find just the right bead or button (all you button addicts, will know exactly what I mean!) and perhaps adding some hand embroidery or ribbon work.
The original sketch I made for this one also featured a coffee table and a pile of books along with coffee pot and cups and saucers, but when I came to position the hoop I had run out of space! A really good project to try as you can add as much or as little detail as you like.
I was rather pleased with this free-machine appliqued/embroidered blue tit and decided to add silk ribbon embroidered cherry blossom.
I now have a long list of others I would like to make! Why not have a go at creating your own hoop art? Happy creating.

Hi Jane I really enjoyed the patchwork bag workshop and have found my bag is just the right size to take to choir rehearsals – it holds my music, a bottle of water and anything else I think I might need. I think I’d quite like to make another one – do you think you could sell me another pack of materials and a copy of the PPT instructions? Also – as I think I said on my evaluation form – I’d like to explore making patchwork cushions in wool fabrics like tweed or tartan, or piped cushion covers in washable fabrics – do you feel you could move in that direction for a workshop? I know it would be different from your established style but maybe more simple and (to me) useful. What I have found most useful about the two workshops of yours I’ve attended has been the practical, transferable advice on basic techniques – and you slot in so much of it so cleverly. Really pleased you enjoyed the workshop and thank-you for taking the time to post feedback.Planning a piped cushion workshop on 27th Sept. I will probably use cotton for these rather than the linen so should be washable so that may be of interest. I also love tweeds etc and would love to do a workshop with these although materials for such fabrics tend to be expensive so I’ll need to look into this one. I’m sure I could get another materials pack together will email you about this. You made such a lovely job of your bag and so pleased it is being used!
